Getting Started with the ArvanCloud CDN

23 Sep 2019

The ArvanCloud Content Distribution Network (CDN) will put your website’s main host server in ArvanCloud edge servers, which receive and respond to users’ requests instead of the website’s main host server.

The cloud DNS settings should be configured before working with ArvanCloud CDN. The following guide will help you configure these settings in multiple steps:

  • Getting Started with ArvanCloud CDN

After reading the guide, take the following steps to get started with ArvanCloud CDN.

Step One: Changing NS Records

As explained at the end of the ArvanCloud DNS start guide, you can activate your domain by changing your website’s NSs to those specified by ArvanCloud. This is done in the website where you have purchased your domain.

This is the first step toward working with the ArvanCloud CDN product. The following guides will help you in this regard:

  • Prerequisites of Changing NSs to ArvanCloud
  • How to Change NS Records in com

Step Two: Making sure that the IP address exists in A records and is correct

While registering the domain in the ArvanCloud user panel, the A records of your website’s main domain and www subdomains (if available) will be automatically added to DNS Settings and Record Management in ArvanCloud DNS.

Note: Avoid deleting the A records that are automatically added to the DNS Settings, Record Management, and Cloud DNS.

The A record IP addresses that are automatically added to the DNS settings should correspond to your website’s main host server IP address. Refer to the Cloud DNS product in Record Management and check the A record IP addresses. If the address registered in the records is different from your website’s main host server, use Edit to change it to your website’s main host server IP address.

Step Three: HTTPS Settings

After taking the preceding steps and your domain being registered as Active, refer to the Content Distribution Network (CDN) Network and HTTPS Settings.

If your website has an SSL certificate, you can activate User Certificate in HTTPS Settings and upload your .key and .cert files to the relevant sections.

The following guides will help you in this regard:

Using free ArvanCloud SSL certificates issued by Let’s Encrypt is another method, which supports HTTPS with a single click and no extra effort. The following window will be opened after activating ArvanCloud Certificate. You can request ArvanCloud certificates only for the main domain and the subdomains that you want, or toggle SSL Activation to request the certificate for your domain and all its subdomains.

Step Four: Correct Redirection Settings

If the name of your actual domain is example.com, and the traffic from www.example.com needs to be redirected to example.com (or vice versa, where your actual domain name is www.example.com, which the traffic from example.com should be directed to), it should be specified in Other Settings and Content Distribution Network (CDN).

In order to support HTTPS, the connection between ArvanCloud edge servers and your website’s end users should preferably be based on HTTPS instead of HTTP. Hence, even if the user sends a request to access the website using HTTP, the connection will be redirected using HTTPS. In order to configure these settings, go to HTTPS Settings and Content Distribution Network (CDN), and activate Auto Redirect HTTP to HTTPS.

The following guide will help you in this regard:

  • Redirection Settings in the ArvanCloud Panel

Note: If you have completed the Redirection settings (for the domain name or for redirecting HTTP to HTTPS) on one side (your website’s main host server or the ArvanCloud panel), avoid doing the same for the other side, as this would lead to the Too Many Redirects error. For example, if the redirect HTTP to HTTPS settings have been configured for your website’s main host server, don’t activate Auto Redirect HTTP to HTTPS in HTTPS Settings and the Content Distribution Network (CDN) product.

Finally, after performing all the aforementioned stages, please read the following guide to make sure you have taken all the steps to prevent problems before turning on the ArvanCloud icon for your website:

  • The Prerequisites of Activating the ArvanCloud Icon and the ArvanCloud CDN Service

Note: If you are not familiar with sections such as the ArvanCloud panel and its settings (especially cloud security settings), please read the product guide or refer to the support section in the menu above the ArvanCloud panel before changing the default settings and select Submit New Request to send a ticket to ArvanCloud Support about changing product settings.

Note: Keep in mind that 20 Gigabytes of receive and send traffic is provided for free when using the ArvanCloud CDN product. The costs of additional use will be calculated linearly according to “usage”. Read the following guide for more information:
